I need a new webcam, but which?

I need a new webcam, but which?

I'm in the dilemma on which webcam i should buy, and I'm still confused about it.

I've narrowed it down to these three:
Microsoft Lifecam HD-6000
Microsoft Lifecam Studio
Microsoft Lifecam Cinema.

So what do  they all have in common?
They all support the native resolution of 720p, but the studio supports 1080p as well.

Personally I like the HD-6000 for the price, but also the size of it, though I don't know whether it will fit on my monitor. The HD-6000 has a nice LED light around the neck of it, showing when it's live.

The lifecam studio supports 1080p, but also have support for a tripod stand, which would make it ideal for other videos. Though the downside of the cam, is the price.

The Lifecam Cinema is in a price range in the middle. Though, it do not support  1080p, and neither have the the mounting for tripod.

What do I need it for?
- I need a new webcam for my gamestreaming and the upcomming DayZ SA content, as well as I've started a new youtube channel called "Online Economics".

Quality on youtube matters, not quantity.

Quality on youtube matters, not quantity.

So today, I spent 5 hours gathering gameplay for youtube, with commentary. I sat down and edited the video, and I ended up with 2x 25 min of episodes. But the cold hard fact was, I did not feel satisfied with my results, and thereby I did not upload it. Tbh - I would not even watch the same twice.

What I'm trying to point out with this post, is that you should not just upload everything and assume you will get viewers and subs. This might be one of the most common youtube starter mistakes.

How to earn money on youtube

How to earn money on youtube

So have you ever wondered why people spend hours of hard work and dedication to create great content for youtube and gather a large community ?

The truth is that you're able to make money off your videos, which is a great way to earn a neat little penny, especially if you're a student and on a fixed income. I personally study, and have a fixed income. Youtube do not pay that much, not enough to pay the rent or such, but in the end I get paid for doing what I like as a hobby.

So how does it all work?

Well it's a combination between youtube and google adwords and adsense.
So what you basicl get paid for is commercials in/ around your video.

But to get stated you need to do some things:

First of all - you need a youtube account, it needs to be in good standing.
Then you need to have at least some content.
Apply for partnership through the options. (NB: if you have adblock installed on you're pc, you will not be able to!)
It might take some time, maybe a month to get your account approved.
After you get an approval, you're able to enter your adsense account(not before).
So what now ?
What you need to do is monetize your videos, and you will generate money based on the amount of views and clicks on your commercials, of course clicks generates way more cash than views.

BUT before you start uploading content you should make sure that:
The content is NOT copyrighted. I CANNOT STRICT THIS ENOUGH - they WILL find out, you will be banned. If they do not find out, and you successfully might be able to make money on the content, you might risk legal action towards you. So CREATE original content, unless you can get a legal agreement.

So what's copyrighted ?

  • Music is of course
  • Images
  • Tv series/shows/movies
  • Gameplay fottage is also.
Though there is often accessibility's to get allowed to monetize gameplay fottage, but note you will need a legal document. For my DayZ videos I've had to contact Bohemia Interactive, and through them get a legal document.

So how much do you make on youtube ?

It's ALL dependent on the commercials, some days you might make 15$, some days maby only 0.3$.
But of own experience, I've made about 18$ pr 10.000 views.

So what are you waiting on mate ? Get out there and make some money ;-)
A great way to gain a high viewer count, is to follow this guide: Viewer guide

How to gain viewers on youtube

How to gain viewers on youtube

If you know this blog, you might as well know some of my content on youtube.
I create various content in DayZ, unboxings and such.

Within 3 months from a fresh account, I've gained 150 viewers and 60.000 views.
I know it's not huge or such, but for a start it's a danm good one ( I think so )
The hard truth is that, unless you make high grade content - you will have a rough start.
Don't expect 1000 views a day in the beginning.

I know my content is not the best, but I ALWAYS try to push my limit, and never upload anything unless I'm satisfied.

So how would you gain viewers fast, or get a start on your Youtube career?

First of all - make a catching name, logo and banner.
Secondly define what your content should be ?
- Don't just upload random vids, like your cat, and then some CS:S gameplay, keep a line/title
Thirdly find a audience
- I started mine out by posting on DayZ forums, Reddit and some facebook pages.

This is the normal way to gain viewers.

You might feel stuck at some point, that it's impossible to gain new viewers and such, but it's really important that you are persistent, upload on a regular schedule and focus on quality content.

A little tip you might be able to use.

Google Adwords - If you have a starting capital to get your Youtube career starting, take the chance and get the 100$ coupon at: Adwords
Do note, that you have to spend 25$ to get it.

Is it worth it ?
Yes - 125$ total will give you a lot of views.

A little DIRTY tip.

IF you make a video / series that get viral, Add subscribe buttons as "next episode" .

Here to show some of my content which I've made:

I hope this mini guide of my own experience was worth reading, if so - please post a comment below explaining your success.

AOC 21:9 29" Q2963PM - My thoughts after a few weeks of usage.

AOC 21:9 29" Q2963PM - My thoughts after a few weeks of usage.

So have I've gotten use to the screen yet, and what are my thoughts.

Well first off, let me start out by saying, I absolutely love the aspect ratio now.
In the start my eyes had a hard time adjusting from the 16:9 to 21:9, but now it just feels natural.
Thou I've noticed that my length from the screen to my eyes is not far enough, because when I look at a regular 23" 16:9 from the same distance, I do not have to move my eyes(that much) to look from the right to the left side of the screen, I have to do that now.

But that might be my only complaint about this product, I've really gotten use to it, and absolutely recommends this to everyone who wants to try out something new.

So how is the gaming experience ?

First off, I've had to upgrade my system to a 2nd 660ti, just to keep my games fluent. But the field of view might give you a bit motion sickness for some people, but I love the wide angle.
When I play Arma II / DayZ, the game is not optimized for 21:9, but only 16:9, that makes the game stretched out, thou I'm able to run it in 2560x1080. What I did here was:
1- I went in the game and changed resolution to 1920x1080
2- I used the monitor to change the resolution to 1920x1080

And that gave me a perfect 16:9 screen in the middle, thou with black borders around the edge.

But the best part about the screen is that it saves THAT specific resolution to that game, so when you log out, it will be back in 21:9, and @ 2560x1080. It saves that setting for that specific game.

THAT'S fricking awesome!
